Red Bull New York has loaned forward Roald Mitchell to Danish Superliga side Viborg FF through June 30, 2027, the club announced today.
“Roald has made significant strides in his development over the past year, and this move presents an excellent opportunity for him to continue that progress in a new environment,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “Competing in a highly competitive league will provide valuable experience and help further his growth as a striker.”
Mitchell, 23, has spent the last three seasons with the Red Bulls. Through his time with the club, he has made six appearances for Red Bull New York, making his MLS debut against Nashville SC on February 24, 2024.
The forward has featured in 39 matches for Red Bull New York II scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists. The forward’s 23 goals are the third-most in RBNY II history.
In 2025, Mitchell scored nine goals in 15 MLS NEXT Pro appearances, including five goals during New York’s 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Cup winning campaign. This was the most goals scored during a single postseason run by a player in MLS NEXT Pro history. During the run the Montclair, N.J. native notably recorded a brace in RBNY II’s 2-1 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs Eastern Conference Final victory over Philadelphia Union II on November 1, 2025.
On the international stage, the 23-year-old has made four appearances for Trinidad and Tobago. In his last call-up in May, he featured in an international friendly match against South Korea in Provo, Utah. The forward made his senior national team debut in a 1-1 draw against Jamaica on November 14, 2025, where he substituted on and played 23 minutes. Mitchell also was a member of a Trinidad and Tobago U-20 camp.
