Red Bull New York have signed Red Bull New York II midfielder Sekou Koné to a MLS contract through the 2027-28 season with options for the 2028-29 and 2029-30 seasons, the club announced today.
“We’re excited to welcome Sekou to the first team. He’s a talented young midfielder who shows great composure on the ball and has the ability to cover a lot of ground,” said Head of Sports Julian de Guzman. “Sekou has performed at a high level for RBNY II this season and has earned this opportunity. We look forward to seeing him continue his development and contribute at the next level.”

Koné, 19 has made two appearances with New York this season and made his MLS debut against LAFC on September 9. In his debut, he recorded the third-most passes by New York from open play completing 72 attempts. The Malian native earned his first career MLS start against St Louis CITY SC on September 30.
For RBNY II this season, the midfielder made 18 appearances and recorded his first career MLS NEXT Pro assist against CT United on July 19.

“Sekou has really good qualities for a young midfielder.” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “He has continued to grow and develop throughout the season and we believe he is ready to take the next step in his career."
Koné joined RBNY II on a one-year loan from Yeelen Olympique on February 4, 2026.
