HARRISON, N.J. (June 28, 2018) – The New York Red Bulls have waived forward Stefano Bonomo, the club announced today.
Bonomo, a second-round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, saw his first MLS action with an appearance in New York’s 3-0 win over Minnesota United FC on March 24, 2018. In 2018, he started seven of the 11 matches he played in for NYRB II, tallying three goals and two assists in 661 minutes played.
Since being drafted by the Red Bulls in 2015, Bonomo has played with New York Red Bulls II since their inception in 2015, accruing 64 games played, 24 goals, nine assists and 4,116 minutes played. He had his best offensive season in 2017, recording 13 goals and two assists in just 16 games played. He helped Red Bulls II capture the Eastern Conference title, the USL Shield and the USL Cup in 2016.
