MATCH RECAP, pres. by Provident Bank: Early Goal Not Enough as Red Bulls Fall to Philadelphia Union

MatchRecap_16x9

A first half goal from Omir Fernandez was not enough for the Red Bulls as the Philadelphia Union scored four consecutive goals en route to a 4-1 victory at Subaru Park.

The Fernandez goal, scored in the 11th minute, was his sixth of the season across all competitions.

The lead, however, was quickly cancelled out by Jakob Glesnes in the 29th minute.

A second yellow in the 44th minute spelled doom for the Red Bulls, who held the 1-1 scoreline until the second half, where three Philadelphia goals got past Carlos Coronel and the New York defense.

New York has not beaten Philadelphia in 12 consecutive matches.

With the international break ahead, the Red Bulls will get an off week to recuperate before a derby match with NYCFC on September 16.
