New York Red Bulls II is in action on the road this Saturday, July 16 against the Charlotte Independence. This is the second and final meeting of the season between the two clubs. The first resulted in a 2-0 home loss for NYRB II.
Last weekend the Red Bulls II continued their outstanding road performances with a 4-2 victory over the Montreal. The win continued their effort to close the gap on Louisville who sits in first place in the USL.
This weekend the Red Bulls II will look to avenge their only loss of the season, which came against Charlotte earlier in the season on May 1. To do so they will look to week 16 USL player of the week Brandon Allen.
Allen was able to notch three goals in last week’s game against Montreal. His eight goals this year are a single season NYRB II record and good enough for fifth most in the league.
Red Bulls II is 10-1-5 on the season and 6-0-1 on the road. The success stems from gritty defensive performances that have only resulted in 10 goals scored against them all season. In their 16 outings they have been able to produced 10 clean sheets.
