Sean Davis played “so well” on Saturday against the New England Revolution, according to Head Coach Jesse Marsch.
“He was a big factor in taking care of the middle of the field,” Marsch said on Saturday night. “[Sean] helped set up some really good attacking plays.”
Marsch said that the upside for Davis is “so big,” and he will do what he can to support and encourage the young midfielder.
“Things have been falling into place for me and I think that showed in the performance on Saturday,” Davis said following training on Tuesday. “I felt really good on the field. I was able to help the team on both sides of the ball.”
Davis said that while he thought he played well against the Revolution, there is still room for improvement.
"There are areas that I can definitely improve,” Davis said. “Playing forward is really important. The intention in playing forward, being dangerous, splitting the lines. That’s something all of us midfielders take pride in. Being a little dangerous in the box, being solid defensively. All that showed in the game on Saturday, but it can be fine-tuned as well.”
Davis completed 90 percent of his 50 passes against the Revolution.
“He's started to look more and more like the player that we know he is,” Marsch said.
