Tyler Adams is excited to get his first MLS All-Star nod.
"To represent the New York Red Bulls at an All-Star Game is something you can't take for granted," Adams said on Monday. "You want to continue to work hard and get recognized for the abilities you have and the work that you put in with your team, but it definitely wouldn't have been possible without my teammates this year. We're having a pretty successful season so far, and we want to continue that."
Adams was added to the All-Star Game roster on Monday.
"You go into the season, you don't really look to be an All-Star," Adams said. "You just look to play a role for your team that will help your team succeed. Playing in the organization that I do, they've set me up for success. This is just a side note from that."
Adams joins teammates Bradley Wright-Phillips, Michael Amir Murillo and Aaron Long at the All-Star Game. Murillo and Long are also making their first All-Star Game appearances. The organization will also have Ben Mines playing in the Homegrown Game, a first for him.
"You get to play with a lot of big-time players," Adams said of what he's most looking forward to. "That's what the All-Star Game is all about. You have big names, they've had big experiences, and most are MLS legends, so it will be exciting to play alongside all these big names, and obviously, my teammates."
Adams, Wright-Phillips, Murillo, Long and the rest of the MLS All-Stars take on Juventus on Wednesday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
