Get to know who the Red Bulls will be playing in their upcoming matchup with The Other Side:

How They’re Doing

New York City FC and the Red Bulls are neck and neck below the Eastern Conference playoff line and are desperately searching for a spark.

In their past 20 MLS league matches, they have three wins.

Despite the poor season so far, home, whether it be Yankee Stadium or Citi Field, has been a place where NYCFC has gotten results. They currently have a 5-3-5 record as the home team and a 1-7-7 record on the road.

The attack has been a huge question mark since the departure of Taty Castellanos during the 2022 season. The highest goal tally for an NYCFC forward this season is Talles Magno with three in 24 appearances. The team’s leading goal-scorer for the season, midfielder Gabriel Pereira, now plays for Al-Rayyan in Qatar.

Head-to-Head History

Saturday will mark the 27th derby between the Red Bulls and NYCFC, with the two sides last meeting on August 3, in which New York took the win 1-0.

Red Bulls midfielder Omir Fernandez scored the game-winner in that derby, which he has done twice this season. That was the Bronx native’s fourth career goal against New York City.

In the past seven meetings between these two clubs, the losing club has failed to score. The Red Bulls hold a 5-2-0 record in those matchups.

Player to Watch: Midfielder Keaton Parks

Since returning to play after an extended recovery period from a lower leg blood clot, Keaton Parks has been a crucial part of the NYCFC starting XI.

Since captain Maxime Chanot departed the club for a move to French club AC Ajaccio, Parks has become an even more integral part in the NYCF clubhouse.

He has two goals and two assists on the season, but his impact goes well beyond the scoresheet.
