Club Deportivo Guadalajara got off to a slow start to their domestic season in Liga MX in 2018. 


Currently, Chivas is sitting in 12th place in the 18-team league, with 15 points on the season, but just three points from fifth and ten points from third. They have a -3 goal differential in league play this season. 


The 2017 Clausura Champions ended Liga MX Matchday 13 with a 2-1 win over 6th-place Monarcas on Friday, March 30. Having not lost in 11 Liga MX matches, Chivas now show a record of 3-4-6 in Liga MX.


Managed by retired Argentine midfielder Matias Almeyda, nine CD Guadalajara players have been called up to the Mexican Team over the past 12 months.


Alan Pulido has led the way for Chivas in league play, scoring four times in 12 games played. Oswaldo Alanis and Rodolfo Pizarro have each scored twice for Guadalajara in domestic play this season. Pizarro has also added three assists in 12 games.


Goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota has started all 13 games for Chivas in Liga MX play, allowing 17 goals on 64 shots on goal, through 1,170 minutes. 


In Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League play, Chivas have had a stronger run of form.


With a goal differential of +9 and a record of 3-1-0 through the Round of 16 and Quarterfinal matches, the Mexican giants have swept aside Cibao and the Seattle Sounders to book their ticket to the Semifinals against the New York Red Bulls. Eight different Chivas players have scored goals, showing depth in their attacking play.


Alanis and Jose Mavias have led Chivas scoring in Champions Leauge play, with two each. Pizarro has also notched three assists in four Champions League matches.


Guadalajara play their home games at Estadio Akron, where they have won their last two Champions League games (5-0 over Cibao and 3-0 over Seattle).


Chivas has not won at home during league play this season, with three draws and three losses on the year. They have a -5 goal differential on the year at Estadio Akron.
