EAST HANOVER (September 25, 2019) – The New York Red Bulls U-15s, ‘17s, and ‘19s are set to renew the New York Derby at the academy level this weekend, hosting NYCFC academy teams at the Red Bulls Training Facility in East Hanover.
It will be the first meeting of the season between the local rivals. The first kickoff is set for 10 a.m. ET, with the U-15’s competing first. The U-17’s will follow after them, with the second kick-off set for 12 p.m. ET. The U-19’s will kick-off shortly after at 2 p.m. ET. All three matches will be played on the upper grass field.
The U-15’s are currently 3-0-1 and have already scored 12 goals this season. Forward Luciano Sanchez leads the team with four goals in four matches. NYCFC U-15’s are 4-0-0 to start the fall season.
The U-17’s have compiled a 2-1-1 record to start this year. Forward Thomas Tulgar, who most recently was invited to the U-16 YNT camp, leads the team with two goals. NYFCFC U-17’s are 1-2-1, most recently losing to Montreal Impact, 4-3.
The U-19’s have won three straight matches, with the most recent one being a 3-2 comeback win against Montreal Impact U-19’s. Diogo Rebelo, who leads the team with four goals, scored the game-winner in the 88th minute.
This will be the only meetings between the U-15’s and U-17’s this season, while the U-19’s will face the NYCFC U-19’s two more times during the season. New York Red Bulls forward Brian White will be attending the U-17’s and U-19’s matches starting at 1 p.m. ET.
