The third round opponent has been decided.

The Red Bulls will visit Charleston, SC on May 29 for a 7:30pm ET kickoff against the Charleston Battery in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Charleston defeated Reading United AC 2-1 Tuesday night to punch their ticket to the U.S. Open Cup, the oldest soccer competition in the United States.

New York is 0-2 all-time against Charleston in U.S. Open Cup play, getting knocked out in the Second Round on June 26, 2001, 4-1, and in the Fourth Round on July 20, 2004, 1-0. Both games took place at Blackbaud Stadium, which also stands as the venue for the May 29 meeting.

The U.S. Open Cup, created in 1914, is a single-elimination tournament similar to the prestigious English FA Cup. It is open to all amateur and professional teams affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation (U.S.S.F).
