In collaboration with Jersey Cares and the staff at Grover Cleveland Park, players from the Red Bulls Academy U-12, U-13, and U-14 teams volunteered their time to make a positive difference to the landscape of the park by breaking down overgrown trees, trimming hedges and bushes, and mulching a new path in the woods.
Supporting our local communities and leading by example as a role model for others is a required standard for every First Team player. As young professionals themselves, this standard is no different for the players within the Academy.
Two of the required standards within the Academy is humility and respect, and one of the club’s core values is selflessness. As young professionals off the field as well as on it, we believe that volunteering time for a good cause is a positive step towards the players holding themselves and their teammates to these standards and demonstrating this core value.
How players conduct themselves off the field often mirrors the type of teammate they are on it and the traits they demonstrate during play – by being a stellar human being off the field they are more inclined to always be a stellar teammate on it.
Volunteering time to help others who are less able or fortunate, or by supporting a worthy cause, or putting a smile of someone else’s face, or simply performing a random act of kindness for another human being is incredibly rewarding and self-fulfilling. It is a win-win situation.
Jersey Cares is a long-standing partner of the New York Red Bulls and is a volunteer organization that aims to create and manage impactful projects that address critical community needs as well as motivating and empowering young people to make a positive difference.
