The New York Red Bulls are set to host FC Dallas in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, May 21 at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM ET with coverage on Paramount+, CBS Sports Network and New York Red Bulls Radio presented by Sports Illustrated in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
The Red Bulls enter the Round of 16 after defeating USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, 4-1, on Tuesday, May 6 at Weidner Field. Forward Mohammed Sofo scored his first career multi-goal game for the club and now has five career goal contributions in three career Open Cup appearances. Dennis Gjengaar and Sean Nealis also both found the back of the net in the match.
This will be the first time the Red Bulls have hosted a U.S. Open Cup match at Sports Illustrated Stadium since 2023. New York have posted a 10-0-3 mark in U.S. Open Cup matches played at Sports Illustrated Stadium. They have all compiled a 15-6-3 mark in home U.S. Open Cup matches in franchise history. The Red Bulls have posted a 3-0-2 mark in their last five home matches against FC Dallas and are currently on a 10-match home unbeaten streak against Dallas.
Tickets for Red Members are $5 and $10 for the general public. Public on sale will be at 10 AM ET on Friday, May 9.
The Round of 16 matchups are an extension of the draw that took place in advance of the Round of 32, which placed teams into four-team groups and established a priority hosting order for the Round of 16. Groups were formed to avoid league schedule conflicts and allow two rest days between league and Cup matches. If three or more teams/pairings were from the same proximity, pairings for these teams were made by random selection. Any teams who are precluded from playing each other until the Final were not paired.
Every remaining contest in the 110th edition of U.S. Soccer’s Club Championship through the Final on Oct. 1 will stream live on Paramount+, and three Round of 16 matches are also set to simulcast on CBS Sports Network and CBS Sports Golazo Network. CBS Sports Golazo Network will provide studio coverage across both matchdays, including The Golazo Show, a whip-around program showing every goal from every match on Wednesday, May 21. More details will be announced as the Round of 16 nears.
About the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup
Now in its 110th edition, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup has crowned U.S. Soccer’s national champion since 1914. The history-filled tournament is conducted on a single-game-knockout basis and is open to professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the U.S. was renamed to honor American soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.
The 2025 U.S. Open Cup winner will earn a berth in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup and have its name engraved on the Dewar Challenge Trophy – one of the oldest nationally contested trophies in American team sports – now on permanent display at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Frisco, Texas. The 2025 tournament features a total purse worth $1 million that includes a $600,000 award for the champion.
