New York Red Bulls Announce New Sporting Hires

The New York Red Bulls have announced two new sporting hires, Cortlin Tonn as Equipment Manager and Hodong Cho as Performance and Conditioning Coach.

Tonn joins New York after spending the previous two years with Vancouver Football Club in the Canadian Premier League. Tonn was the Head Equipment and Facilities Manager since January 2025 and also served as an Equipment Manager since January 2023. Previously, Tonn served as an Assistant Equipment Manager for the Vancouver Whitecaps from Jan 2019 to November 2022.

He also had a previous stint with Vancouver Whitecaps from April 2015 to November 2017, where he served as Equipment Manager for their Academy and also as an Assistant Equipment Manager for the First Team. Tonn has also was an Equipment Manager for Ottawa Fury FC from January 2018 to January 2019.

Cho has seven years of Sport Scientist experience in Major League Soccer. He started in January 2018 with Minnesota United FC before moving to Chicago Fire FC in February 2020. Prior to his time in MLS, he was a performance coach experience with SPIK Performance Center in Seoul, Korea from October 2016 to December 2016, and then moved to Icheon Daekyo Women’s Football Club in Gyeonggi, Korea from December 2016 to December 2017.

Cho earned his Bachelor’s in Health, Fitness and Recreation Resources from George Mason University in 2015 and achieved a Master’s in Sports and Health Science at American Military University in 2018.
