The New York Red Bulls were eliminated from contention in the CONCACAF Champions League, after a scoreless draw with C.D. Fas in San Salvador.

Saer Sene's skied penalty attempt mid-way through the first half was the closest would come to breaking the deadlock. The big Frenchman got the opportunity after Ambroise Oyongo had been dragged down in the area, but couldn't put his attempt on frame.

Late in the second half, Ruben Bover also had a good look, but his header from 6 yards off an Oyongo cross was easily handled by FAS 'keeper Luis Contreras.

The result means the Red Bulls can't catch Montreal, who are on 9 points after winning all three of their Group 3 games. New York (1-1-1) are on four points, which makes the final group stage encounter on October 22 at Red Bull Arena, academic.
