MATCH RECAP, pres. by Provident Bank: Red Bulls Suffer Defeat in Visit to NYCFC

The New York Red Bull dropped three points in their visit to NYCFC at Yankee Stadium. 


City’s Valentín Castellanos scored the night’s first goal; Maxi Moralez sent in a cross into the box that the Argentinian striker headed in. 


Minutes later, Brian White leveled things up with a golazo from outside the box. The Flemington native has scored three goals since the home against Orlando City. 


Cristian Cásseres Jr. hammered home the second for the Red Bulls, the ball deflected off Maxime Chanot before ending in the back of the net. 


Although the Red Bulls took the 2-1 lead, City came back with a Gary Mackay-Steven goal. 


The teams headed into halftime with a 2-2 draw. Cásseres Jr. finished the first 45 minutes with three interceptions and two tackles. 


New York started the second half with Florian Valot taking the field for Samuel Tetteh. 


In the 51st minute, Alexander Ring took a long-range shot that went into the top right-corner, unreachable for Ryan Meara.  


New York’s second and third substitutions saw Omir Fernandez and Caden Clark take the field for Jared Stroud and Dru Yearwood.


Castellanos sealed his second of the night to give NYCFC a 4-2 lead in the 76th minute.


The Red Bull’s last two substitutions saw Kyle Duncan and Aaron Long step off the field for Mandela Egbo and Tom Barlow.  


Castellanos got his hat-trick in the 84th minute via the penalty spot.
