MATCH RECAP, pres. by Toyota: Red Bulls, Inter Miami Split Points

16x9 3

Following a back-and-forth match, Red Bull New York grabbed a point on the road against Inter Miami CF at Nu Stadium in a 2-2 draw.

"I'm really proud of our team, really, really proud of the players, and the way they went after things, you know, it's obviously a really good opponent," Head Coach Michael Bradley said.

Jorge Ruvalcaba and Adri Mehmeti both scored their first MLS goals in the match. Julian Hall assisted both goals.

Ruvalcaba finished off a cross from Hall, who sprinted down the pitch and drew in two defenders. Hall had Ruvalcaba wide open, who smashed home the opening goal of the match.

After Miami drew even right before halftime, they added a second midway through the second half.

RBNY battled back, when Emil Forsberg delivered a free kick to Hall in the box, who played it through to Mehmeti.

"He has really, really good qualities as a nine, in terms of his ability to score goals, his ability to set up goals," Bradley said of Hall. "The work that he does in terms of helping us press, and helping us chase, and helping make sure that the other team has no time to do what they want. That sends such a clear and strong signal to the rest of our group in terms of how can we close the space behind him and where is the next play going so we can be on top of that?"

Mehmeti becomes the yongest goal scorer in MLS this season, and 16th-youngest in league history.

Hall tallied two assists in a single match for the first time in his career. He is the seventh-youngest player in MLS history to record two assists in a match, at 18 years and 18 days old.

"Everybody's mentality is always, always on top," Mehmeti said. "Everyone's sharp. The older guys giving the young guys confidence, every single day, to push when they get their moment. We give everything we have - the whole team - everybody that comes in, gives everything we have. That's what it takes to be a good team."

Ethan Horvath made five saves on the night, including denying Lionel Messi in stoppage time off a dangerous free kick opportunity. Four of Horvath's five saves came from within the 18-yard-box.

The five saves were the most by Horvath in a match with RBNY.

Cade Cowell recorded his third assist of the season and the 18th of his career in MLS.

The winger has an assist in back-to-back MLS matches.
