In front of a sold-out Red Bull Arena, goals from Diego Gomez and Lionel Messi were the difference in a 2-0 victory for Miami.
Jorge Cabezas Hurtado made his debut for the Red Bulls. Captain Sean Nealis made his 100th appearance for the club.
The Red Bulls will now head to New England to take on the Revolution on Wednesday, August 30.
