Plugging the Gaps

When New York travels north of the border to take on Toronto FC, they will be without four key players that started against NYCFC on Saturday.

Captain Sean Nealis, Cristian Cásseres Jr. and Andrés Reyes will miss the match against Toronto due to yellow card accumulation, while Daniel Edelman will be at the U-20 World Cup with the U.S. Men’s National Team.

In total, twelve players have been determined to be “out” for the Red Bulls. Against a team in Toronto FC, who is also struggling with player availability, it will come down to the players who can fill the gaps, especially in the defense, in determining whether New York gets another important result.

Victory Vibes

After a week which saw New York conquer their oldest rival, D.C. United, and their closest rival, New York City FC, there is some momentum behind the Red Bulls at the moment.

In five days, the Red Bulls doubled their win total from the rest of the MLS season. Can they keep it going against Toronto FC, the only team currently below them in the Eastern Conference standings?

Omir, Oh-My!

For a Red Bulls team who has been looking for goals from their attacking players, Omir Fernandez has made a difference. His two goals in the past week have been the difference in wins against D.C. and NYCFC, and his three goals across all competitions this season lead the team.

With so many attacking players out of the lineup due to injuries or suspensions, Fernandez has stepped up and provided the spark that the Red Bulls attack needed.

Can he continue that against Toronto FC, who has allowed 17 goals in 12 matches so far this season?
