Kaku and Michael Amir Murillo have been named to the MLS Team of the Week for their performance against Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
Murillo influenced an own goal to open the scoring for New York and then added one of his own, both in the second half, as he logged 90 minutes for New York.
Kaku added an assist in his 90 minutes of play.
The Red Bulls are back in action on June 8 against Philadelphia Union.
