The New York Red Bulls will see their most-used Starting XI back on the field to face Chicago Fire FC on Sunday evening at Soldier Field.
Patryk Klimala and Fábio will look to get the Red Bulls attack back on track. Off the bench, Danny Royer is back in the matchday roster, if needed. Royer hasn’t appeared in a match since May 29.
The two clubs have met one time this season, which was on May 1 at Red Bull Arena. New York won, 2-0, with forward Fábio recording his first two assists of the season and the Red Bulls first multi-assist match this year.
Wiki Carmona, Cristian Cásseres Jr., Caden Clark and Sean Davis will make up the midfield for the starting whistle.
The defense of John Tolkin, Amro Tarek, Tom Edwards and Kyle Duncan start for Head Coach Gerhard Struber. Carlos Coronel stars in goal.
In the first meeting between New York and Chicago, goalkeeper Coronel recorded his first shutout of the season. He now has tallied five shutouts this season, most recently on August 4 against FC Cincinnati at Red Bull Arena. In eight road matches this year, Coronel has made 27 saves, which ranks tied for sixth in MLS.
New York will have a full bench, with Frankie Amaya, Tom Barlow, Manny Egbo, Omir Fernandez, Andrew Gutman, Sean Nealis and Royer available. Ryan Meara will be the club’s backup goalkeeper.
Chicago Fire FC are currently on a two-match unbeaten streak after grabbing two draws against Philadelphia Union on August 1 and New York City FC on August 4.
