The New York Red Bulls head into Nashville for the first time, looking to return to the playoffs for the 12th-consecutive season.
The Red Bulls will need to win or draw to guarantee themselves a spot in the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs. They can also back in with a loss and some help.
Head Coach Gerhard Struber will deploy Fábio up top, supported by Caden Clark and Cristian Cásseres Jr.
This will be the second meeting in the MLS regular season between New York and Nashville, with the Red Bulls winning the only edition on June 18 at Red Bull Arena, 2-0. Fábio scored his first career MLS goal in the match, which was the game-winner.
Sean Davis and Dru Yearwood will lock down the central midfield.
John Tolkin and Tom Edwards will work the outside channels, while Andrew Gutman, Sean Nealis and Andrés Reyes anchor the defense.
New York have won four of their last five road matches and have outscored their opponents, 8-2, in those matches.
Carlos Coronel starts in goal for New York.
Coronel earned his 13th shutout of the season on Wednesday night against Atlanta United FC. He is currently tied for first in MLS and is one shutout shy of tying Luis Robles for the most shutouts in a single season. Robles had 14 shutouts during the 2018 season.
The Red Bulls will have Frankie Amaya, Tom Barlow, Wiki Carmona, Youba Diarra, Kyle Duncan, Omir Fernandez, Lucas Monzón and Danny Royer available off the bench. Ryan Meara will serve as the backup goalkeeper.
Patryk Klimala is suspended for Sunday's match due to yellow card accumulation.
