Red Bull New York will see a pair of firsts at the opening whistle against Los Angeles FC on Wednesday evening at BMO Stadium.
Dennis Nelich will make his first MLS start – and first MLS appearance – while Devin Padelford makes his first RBNY start.
Nelich will be joined in the attack by Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Cade Cowell.
Nelich has risen through the ranks, joining Red Bull New York’s Academy in 2024 and signing his first professional contract with Red Bull New York II in June.
Emil Forsberg dons the captain’s armband, starting alongside Adri Mehmeti and Mohammed Sofo in the midfield.
This will be the first visit to BMO Stadium for New York since 2024, where New York earned a 2-2 draw against LAFC. Forsberg scored in the draw to earn New York a result that season.
Padelford gets the nod alongside Julian Bazan, Justin Che and Dylan Nealis. Ethan Horvath starts in goal following his six-save performance and clean sheet in the last match.
Horvath recorded six saves in the match, which ranked the most by an Eastern Conference goalkeeper in Matchday 24. Horvath has recorded 78 saves this season, which ranks fifth in the Eastern Conference.

Off the bench, Head Coach Michael Bradley will have Julian Hall, Cameron Harper, Mijahir Jimenez, Sekou Kone, Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, John McCarthy, Tim Parker, David Ruiz and Jorge Ruvalcaba available. Kone joins, along with Nelich, on short-term call ups from Red Bull New York II.
