GOLD CUP: US Top Kemar Lawrence, Jamaica to Win Gold Cup

2017 Gold Cup

The United States Men's National Team got an 88th minute goal from Jordan Morris to win the 2017 Gold Cup, 2-1 over Jamaica.

New York Red Bulls defender Kemar Lawrence tallied an assist on Jamaica's goal, serving in a perfect corner kick in the 50th minute.

The US struck first, in the 45th minute, when Jozy Altidore converted a free kick, beating Jamaica's backup keeper, Dwayne Miller. Starting goalkeeper Andre Blake was forced to leave the game in the 23rd minute after he was kicked in the hand.

Lawrence and Jamaica lost in the final of the previous Gold Cup, 3-1 to Mexico in 2015.

The Red Bulls defender started each game of the 2017 Gold Cup for his country. He scored a stunner free kick goal to top Mexico in the semifinals to help Jamaica advance to the final.

Lawrence will return to the Red Bulls, but will serve a one-game suspension stemming from actions in the match against New York City FC on June 24.
