Panama's Gold Cup journey ended on an own goal in Philadelphia.


New York Red Bulls and Panamanian national team defender Michael Amir Murillo could only watch as an own goal off the head of Anibal Godoy found the back of the net to help Costa Rica advance to the semifinals.


Murillo started for Panama and played the full 90 minutes.


Panama won twice in the group stage to advance to the quarterfinals.


The defender scored in earlier Gold Cup action, against Martinique, his second international goal of his career.
