GAME GUIDE: News and notes ahead of RBNY's clash with San Jose -

HARRISON, N.J. (April 16, 2015) - The New York Red Bulls return home tomorrow for a Friday night showdown with San Jose Earthquakes at Red Bull Arena. The match is set to kickoff at 7:00 ET on UniMas. English Language broadcast is also available by using the SAP function. It is also Autism Awareness Night at Red Bull Arena.

New York remained unbeaten last weekend by way of a 2-2 draw at D.C. United. After falling behind 2-0 the Red Bulls climbed back into the match with goals from Damien Perrinelle, and a 90th minute marker from Lloyd Sam.

New York is now 2-0-2 on the season and second in the Eastern Conference with eight points through four games. The Red Bulls also managed five points from three early season road games, and kickoff a three-game homestand with the match against San Jose. New York is tied for the best home record in MLS since the start of 2012. Their 33-7-12 mark gives them 111 points accrued at home, tied with LA Galaxy (34-9-9) during that span.

Lloyd Sam continues to be red hot – the goal last weekend was his team-leading third of the season, and puts the Englishman just two off his total from 2014. Bradley Wright-Phillips has two goals through the first four, and has also added two assists, which ties his total from a season ago.

San Jose enters with a 3-3-0 record, coming off of a 1-0 home victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC last weekend. The win snapped a two-game losing skid for the Earthquake. Sanna Nyassi scored a 75th minute winner to give the team their second win in three games at the new Avaya Stadium. San Jose is 1-2-0 on the road to start 2015.

  • The Red Bulls remained undefeated on the season in dramatic fashion, Lloyd Sam pouncing on a rebound to score the 90th-minute equalizer for a 2-2 draw at D.C. United on Saturday evening. The Red Bulls and Real Salt Lake are the only MLS teams without a loss this season.
  • The goal was Sam’s third in four games this season, tied for second place in the MLS Golden Boot standings.
  • The Quakes snapped their two-game losing skid with a second win in their new Avaya Stadium home, Sanna Nyassi scoring to give them a 1-0 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday evening.
  • The Earthquakes have not lost to the Red Bulls since the 2011 season, a 3-0 victory on April 16 at Red Bull Arena. The Quakes have won one of the four meetings since, a 2-1 win in 2013 at Buck Shaw Stadium; the other three matches have ended in draws.
  • The Quakes have not won at New York since 2005. The last two meetings in New Jersey have ended in draws; the Red Bulls won the previous four home encounters after San Jose’s return to MLS. New York last won at San Jose in 2003, a 2-0 MetroStars victory at Spartan Stadium.
