Davis and Red Bulls Will Look to Build Off Last Week

The New York Red Bulls will look to build off their Week 3 loss in Seattle as they host Real Salt Lake at Red Bull Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Midfielder Sean Davis said the team will take a lot from their game against the Sounders against an in-flux Salt Lake team.

With a new head coach, missing their starting keeper (Nick Rimando on U.S. National Team Duty), a Designated Player (Albert Rusnack representing Slovakia) and captain (Kyle Beckerman received two yellow cards and a red card last week), Davis said that despite outside appearances, these changes can make Salt Lake a “dangerous” and “volatile” team.

“We know they’re very dangerous,” Davis said. “We played them in preseason and they were able to break our press a few times. We have to have the right mentality, for sure, and we have to do everything we can to pick up three points at home.”

As for Davis’ personal growth within the Red Bulls midfield, he said he’s been pleased with his defensive play so far, but knows he needs to improve his attacking prowess.

“Personally, defensively, things have gone pretty well,” he said. “Now it’s just trying to find myself going forward. It takes a lot of running, but I think that’s what I bring to the game. I’m getting more and more comfortable every week. As time goes on, things will continue to improve.”

The New York Red Bulls host Real Salt Lake on Saturday, March 25 at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m., with coverage on UniMas, the Univision Facebook page, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish.
