“My name is Federico Colque. I’m from Salta, one of the most beautiful provinces in northern Argentina.
Growing up, my grandfather signed my cousins and me up at Gimnasia y Tiro de Salta. That place became more than just a club; it was where I built lifelong friendships while pushing myself through demanding, competitive training. It shaped who I am.
When I was 10, my dad’s job took us to Buenos Aires. Life shifted. Soccer took a back seat as I focused on school, chasing a degree, and building a professional career. But I never truly let it go. I kept playing in amateur leagues with school friends and later with colleagues from work. I trained consistently, always trying to stay sharp and competitive, always staying connected to the game.
Fast forward to the end of 2023, my wife and I decided to take a leap and look for new opportunities abroad. That’s how we landed in New Jersey, in the United States. After 15 years in the corporate world, leading teams in trade marketing, I made a decision that changed everything: I chose to follow my passion. Futbol, or “soccer,” as I learned to call it here, but this time from a different angle. Not as a player, but as a coach.
My first challenge? The language. My English was rough, and honestly, I never felt comfortable speaking it. But nothing grows inside your comfort zone, right? So I leaned into it. I took online courses, earned mygrassroots licenses through U.S. Soccer Federation, and in the Spring 2024 season, I got my first opportunity with a small academy called USA Sport Group. That’s where my coaching journey officially began.
From there, things started to be built. I earned my U.S. Soccer D License, worked with travel teams, and kept learning every single day. Then came a turning point, in the summer of 2025, I went through a selection process and earned a role with New York Red Bulls. That was a major milestone in my coaching career.
Joining a club like that pushes you. It challenges you to grow every day. You’re surrounded by coaches from all over the world, each bringing their own philosophy, their own style. And honestly, there’s nothingbetter than being in an environment where you can learn from all of them and keep evolving.
As a coach, my mission is simple: to inspire and positively impact as many young athletes as possible. I want to guide them, not just to become better players, but better people. To teach values like commitment, teamwork, and ambition. Values that help them enjoy the game but also carry them through life.
Because the truth is, as coaches, we hold a real influence. We have the power to shape lives, to guide, to mentor, to leave a mark that goes beyond the field. And with that comes responsibility. A responsibility to show up prepared, to lead with purpose, and to always be at the level our players deserve.
What drives me every day is knowing that I now get to give back, doing what I love, following my passion, and helping others along the way.
Right now, I’m working toward my C and D coaching licenses with the Argentine Football Association and CONMEBOL, and once I earn them, I’ll keep pushing forward, learning, evolving, and sharpening my coaching skills. What I love most about this career is that it’s just the beginning of a long road ahead, and that’s exactly what fuels me to keep growing, to stay ready, and to rise to whatever comes next.''
