ALL-STAR GAME: Kemar Lawrence Goes 45 for MLS All-Stars

Kemar Lawrence All-Star Game

New York Red Bulls defender Kemar Lawrence started for the MLS All-Star team and played the entire first half before being subbed out.

The MLS All-Stars took on Atletico Madrid, which scored a late first-half goal to go into the break, en route to a 3-0 victory.

Lawrence earned his first MLS All-Star honors as one of 13 selections made by All-Star head coach James O’Connor of Orlando City SC.

Lawrence, now in his fifth season with the Red Bulls, has been a mainstay during two Supporters’ Shield seasons, four-straight playoff appearances, and three Concacaf Champions League runs. In 2018 Lawrence made 28 appearances as New York allowed a league-low 33 goals en route to MLS records for points (71) and wins (22) in a season.

Lawrence earned his first MLS Best XI award for the 2018 season. Lawrence recently surpassed the 100 games played mark in MLS. Across all competitions, he has more than 130 appearances for the Red Bulls, contributing four goals and 12 assists in addition to being a shut-down defender.
