HARRISON, N.J. (April 30, 2025) - New York Red Bulls II have loaned defender Aidan O’Connor to Canadian Premier League side Vancouver FC for the remainder of the 2025 season, the club announced today.
O’Connor joined New York on January 26, 2024, when he was the 12th selection in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. He made 24 appearances in his first year with Red Bulls II, leading the group in total minutes played with 2,122. In year two, O’Connor has started all five matches. The defender scored his first career MLS NEXT Pro goal against Crown Legacy FC on August 25, 2024. He also started in New York’s 2024 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matchup against NYCFC II.
The Grand Rapids, MI native made two appearances for the first team, making his MLS debut on June 1 against Orlando City SC.
Prior to New York, O’Connor was a two-year letterman at the University of Virginia where he made 31 career appearances and recorded one goal and two assists. In his senior year, he played in 17 matches and helped post six shoutouts. The defender led the Cavaliers to an NCAA Sweet-16 appearance and was named to the 2022 All-ACC Academic Team. Prior to Virginia, he played two seasons with Western Michigan University, where he made 22 appearances and recorded two goals.
