Connecticut United opened the scoring first in the 30th minute. After Robbie Mora found Cauã Paixão on the right side, the Brazilian delivered a perfect through ball to Barnabás Tanyi to take the lead.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 43rd minute. After Mora gained possession, the midfielder found Tanyi for his second goal of the match.
New York got on the scoresheet in the 52nd minute. Through some impeccable build-up play, captain Nate Worth found winger Dennis Nelich, who found right back Dennis Gjengaar as the Norwegian cut the deficit in half.
Connecticut would find the match-sealing goal in the 90th minute. After Red Bulls II conceded a penalty, substitute Alex Monis delivered from the spot to seal the three points.
Gjengaar scored his third goal of the season.
Nelich provided his third assist of the season.
