New York is fourth in the Eastern Conference after pulling off a 4-2 victory against Connecticut United FC at Knights Field on Saturday, August 29. Despite falling behind twice in the match, forwards Roald Mitchell and Christian Gallagher both scored twice to secure the three points away from home against their Tri-State rival.
New York City is in ninth place in the Eastern Conference and have gone unbeaten in their last six matches at home. They were last in action on September 1, where they suffered a 4-2 defeat at Inter Miami CF II.
This will be the third meeting between the rivals this season. In the last matchup between the two sides on May 17, City pulled off a 3-2 victory at MSU Soccer Park despite the Red Bulls’ comeback efforts after late goals from Gallagher and midfielder Paul Sokoloff.
