New York sits second in the Eastern Conference and are undefeated in their first five matches of the season. The side was last in action on April 12 when they traveled to Beirne Stadium to face New England Revolution II. Red Bulls II opened the scoring in the first minute of first half stoppage time when goalkeeper Tobias Szewczyk played an over the top through ball to forward Roald Mitchell who lobbed a shot over the keeper. New England equalized off a free kick goal in the 66th minute. RBNY II found the match winner in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time when midfielder Andy Rojas curled a free kick from the top of the box into the bottom right corner to secure a 2-1 win.
Cincinnati are 14th in the Eastern Conference and are coming off their first win of the season in a 1-0 victory over NYCFC II at NKU Soccer Park on April 13 thanks to an early 14th minute goal from forward Cheikhou Niang.
