HARRISON, N.J. (July 18, 2025) – New York Red Bulls II (10-3-3, 34 pts) return home to face Hudson River Derby Rival NYCFC II (6-6-5, 25 pts) on Sunday, July 20 at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. James Hadnot will be on the call.
New York sits in first place in the Eastern Conference and were last in action on July 11 at York Lions Stadium against Toronto FC II. Red Bulls II went down 2-0 in the 36th minute, but showed some resilience in the second half. Midfielder Rafael Mosquera scored his sixth goal of the season off a rebound in the box in the 73rd minute. The away side equalized in the last minute of stoppage time courtesy of a volley from forward Tanner Rosborough from a Mosquera corner kick. The match went onto a penalty kick shootout where New York earned two points in a 4-3 shootout victory.
NYCFC II are 8th in the Eastern Conference and are coming off a midweek 1-0 victory over Toronto FC II at Belson Stadium on Wednesday, July 16. Forward Eligio Guarino scored the lone goal curling a right footed shot from in the box in the 53rd minute.
This will be the third matchup between the two clubs this season and the sixth all time in MLS NEXT Pro. Red Bulls II are 2-2-1 against NYCFC II. The two sides have split two matches this season, with New York winning a 3-2 thriller at Sports Illustrated Stadium on March 30, while NYCFC II got revenge in the second matchup on May 9 at Belson Stadium, earning a 5-2 victory.
Through MLS NEXT Pro play, the home side has won four of the six matchups. New York are the only team to win on the road, doing so in their first matchup in MLS NEXT Pro on April 10, 2024 where they earned a 1-0 victory.
Mosquera is in a strong run of form with four goal contributions in his last four matches. He’s coming off a one goal one assist performance in a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC II on July 11.
Through all derby matchups in MLS NEXT Pro, New York has had eight different goal scorers.
